Sunrise Eggs 'Enriched' Cage Investigation

3 years ago by AnimalAid, Animal Aid

Battery cages were banned across the European Union on 1st January 2012. But what should have been a huge step forward in improving the lives of farmed chickens was hijacked and watered down by the farming industry. Battery cages were replaced with 'enriched' cages, also called 'colony' cages.

This short film shows the reality of life for the millions of chickens that are kept in such cages. It was filmed undercover at 'Sunrise Eggs', a chicken farm whose joint Managing Director is a member of the National Farmers Union Poultry Board, in November 2013.
